The Arc of Essex County is a non-profit organization that provides services and programs for individuals with developmental disabilities and their families.
A Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring that all agency properties throughout Essex County, both owned and leased, are maintained at high levels to provide a clean and safe environment for all consumers and staff.
Essential Functions include:
Painting, staining and varnishing
Minor plumbing (toilet, faucet and drainage troubleshooting and repair, unclogging of toilets, sinks and shower drains)
Electrical (troubleshooting and repair of fixtures, outlets and switches, and changing light bulbs)
Light masonry (proper mixing of concrete products, repairing cracks, re-pointing brickwork and stonework, re-setting handrails in masonry walkways/stairways)
Carpentry (repair of doors, frames, windows, stairwells, decks, etc.)
Tile and floor repair
Appliance installation, removal and repair
Minor HVAC troubleshooting and repair
EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Candidates must have a high school diploma or GED. Certificates are a plus.
Five years of relevant experience preferred.
Valid New Jersey Driver’s License REQUIRED (No suspensions or infractions excluding parking or registration within 2 years)
Candidates must be able to complete local travel throughout Essex County.
Schedule: Monday – Friday: 9:00a.m -5:00p.m OR 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. (Rotating on-call responsibilities)
